The cane part of the chair is made of white plastic that is painted to match the wood. Paint wore off in spots within a month of having them. This should have been made of the same type of material outdoor fake wicker is made of where the material itself is colored. Great idea, terrible follow through on their part. They took the cheap way out for the design and it shows. Returned and exchanged for the ladder back. Very disappointing.
