If there’s one adage we really believe around here, it’s got to be “it’s all in the details.” Nothing makes your home more YOU than all those details that no one else has. And once we saw these fun vases and pottery pieces our creative director Ricky painted, we just knew we had to share it with you. Because details.
“Super personalized touches easily elevate any space.”

So your home doesn't feature beautiful moldings or decorative paneling? No problem…just fake it. It’s pretty easy. (Really!) And the best part of this Home Hack is that you don't need any nails or hammers or wood—just paint, some tape and a little time. Ricky will walk you through exactly how to tackle this room-changing DIY in just a few easy steps.
Apply 1.88-inch painter’s tape in your desired shapes (in our case, vertical rectangles above horizontal rectangles). Then line up the .94-inch tape and apply next to the thicker tape. This is the area that will be painted.
Use your knife to cleanly cut the tape at each corner.
Line up and apply two more strips of the 1.88-inch painter’s tape to all shapes. Then line up the .94-inch tape and apply next to the thicker tape. Apply another strip of the thicker tape. Then another of the thin tape. Finally finish with one last strip of the thicker tape.
Peel off only the .94-inch stripes of tape. Press the remaining thicker tape to the wall to help prevent paint bleeding.
Paint the spaces the .94-inch tape left.
Want clean stripes? Peel the tape before the paint fully dries.
Looking to up your shelfie game? We've got a couple ideas that'll help add a little polish to those shelves—and they're both insanely simple to do and give you infinite styling possibilities. Bonus: One hack requires no tools or extra supplies. It really is that easy.
Cover your work surface and remove any dust jackets from the books.
Paint the spines and covers of your books with thick coats of paint, letting them dry between coats. You want the paint to fill in the imprinted titles on the spines of the books. We went with a sleek monochrome look.
Flip your books around so the spines are facing inside the bookshelf. THAT‘S IT.
You‘ll be left with rows of beautiful monochromatic texture that blend with any space.
Red, green, blue, orange books...it doesn‘t matter. Use what you have.
